: 📐 Portrait or Landscape? How to Choose the Right Art Print Orientation for Your Space

When it comes to choosing art for your home, it’s not just about the subject or colours — the orientation of the print can completely change the look and feel of your space too!

So what’s the difference between a landscape orientation and a portrait orientation, and why might you choose one over the other?

🖼 What is landscape vs portrait?

  • Landscape orientation means the print is wider than it is tall. Think of a beautiful wide view of rolling hills or horses running across the plains — the artwork feels expansive and horizontal.

  • Portrait orientation means the print is taller than it is wide. Perfect for highlighting a single subject, like an elegant horse standing tall, or a floral stem reaching upwards.

Each format creates a different visual effect on your wall:

  • Landscape prints can make a room feel wider and calmer, drawing your eyes across the space.

  • Portrait prints add height and drama, making a space feel taller and more refined.

✏️ Some prints come in both

You might notice on my website that a few of my prints are available in both portrait and landscape formats. For example, you’ll often see the title listed as:

  • “Blushing Hydrangea – In Landscape”

  • “Blushing Hydrangea – In Portrait”

This gives you the flexibility to choose the version that best suits your wall, shelf, or gallery wall layout.
