Meet the Angus Bull otherwise known as "Bully"

Bully was photographed at "Te awa awa" farm, in the Wairarapa New Zealand, as a commission piece. Bully 1 was the fastest selling limited edition print from  By The Horns. I am so excited to hold a new limited square edition to the Bully Collection.

This is a fine art photograph printed on superior quality 310 gsm archival paper. It is 100% cotton rag, acid free and printed with high quality Epson inks. This image will run at a print number of 40.

Handle with Care - Please handle your prints with care and avoid overly rubbing or touching the surface. To keep your prints looking great, they must be handled with care and preferably framed or displayed right away. Oils from your fingertips can mark black prints easily. It is recommended for black prints to be opened and framed by a professional. Attempting to open and re roll the print to put back in the tube can damage your print. 

This is limited edition print. Once they have sold out, no more will be printed under any circumstance. All limited edition prints will be numbered, named and signed.

*Artist tip - black prints do show more reflection off the glass. For these limited edition prints we use a more expensive glass - UV70 for the size 20 x 20 inch in New Zealand. If you are wanting the anti reflective tru Vue glass for larger sizes, please reach out at hello@bythehorns.co.nz to see if it is possible for your location. Otherwise we recommend the amazing canvas option for no reflection. If framing is selected for larger than 20x20 for the Bully II print, and you have not requested by email for the UV70 glass, the regular acrylic glass will be used.

I headed out onto the farm today to capture one of the biggest bulls we currently have. He was interested to see what I was up to, his gaze following my every move making me somewhat nervous.

Tip !!: Darker prints will show more reflection off glass. If you are deciding between canvas vs fine art prints, the canvas is the better option for larger pieces as you don't have to worry about reflection off the glass.

Living on a sheep and beef farm, I am not too short of photo opportunities. I had in my mind the exact shot that I wanted to capture of one of our bulls and I was very eager.

I was all prepared, had all my equipment charged up and ready to go. I set out for a small hike about our farm to find my particular subject, the Angus Bull. I knew where he was was located, I had it all sussed.

After raining all week, it was finally a beautiful clear day to head out with my camera, so I was excited with what I was going to create. I love the sun shining on the Angus Bulls as it truly shows up their black shiny coats in my photographs.

However, when I got there, the bull had different ideas. He clearly didn’t get the memo but he was having a ball nevertheless. What I was hoping for was a beautiful clean, shiny bull ready to do some great modelling poses for me. What I got was a bull who was rolling around in a mud bath. I was gutted. I was really excited about my photograph that I had all planned in my head, and what I got was completely different. I didn’t want a muddy bull.

I figured, I had got all this way out into the paddock with all my equipment, I may as well take some shots anyway, it wasn’t going to hurt and this was the result.

Tip: Darker or Black Prints will show a lot of reflection off the glass/acrylic, especially if near windows. We recommend either switching to a canvas or asking us about the Non Reflective Glass option ( additional cost)
